Stephen Sewell is well known for his film and theatre work, including his AFI Award winning script of The Boys. Audiences also admire his plays, such as The Blind Giant is Dancing, It Just Stopped and the most awarded play in Australian history, Myth, Propaganda and Disaster in Nazi Germany and Contemporary America – A Drama in 30 Scenes (Playbox Theatre, State Theatre Company of South Australia, 2003; The Orange Tree Theatre, London 2004). Sewell, one of the most celebrated and experienced writers in Australia, is now branching out into film direction, with two films currently being financed by Beyond Harbourside. His collaboration with director Serhat Caradee (Cedar Boys) on Miranda is the culmination of a long friendship and a shared concern about issues in the Middle East. Sewell has also just completed writing his first novel, Babylon.

Synopsis:
Sex, drugs and the shadow of international terrorism ... these elements combine in Miranda to create a gripping political thriller about an unusual encounter between two strangers in a foreign country. A journalist on the edge of sanity and a secretive young academic check in to a magnificent hotel suite in the heart of the Middle East. As events unfold over the course of an evening, we are forced to confront what is humanity and what is sanity.
