Directors Kate Whitbread and Sandra Sciberras (who also wrote the film) are the team behind the AFI winning Caterpillar Wish. This delightful romantic comedy pairs up some of Australia's hottest talent and takes you on an unexpected journey.
When we meet sisters Heidi (Pia Miranda) and Rose (Holly Valance) they are making their way through life in unassuming ways. Heidi works at the local glass factory where she remains obstinately single, seemingly oblivious to the amorous yearnings of her shy supervisor, (Spencer McLaren, who also produces) whilst sister and single mother Rose moves from boarding house to boarding house towing her warm and cheerful son Albie. They both appear to have come to terms with the pivotal event of their adolescence... being abandoned twelve years ago by their flamboyant, man-hungry, impulsive and intemperate mother Georgia (Caroline O'Connor). That's until one day identical pink letters arrive. They are told that their mother has passed away, leaving them a Milk Bar in their home-town as an inheritance, but only if they agree to return there and live together for six months.
Heidi and Rose agree to move back to the country town where they grew up, and set about fixing up the old Milk Bar. The girls adjust to life back there and soon Rose forms an attachment to local boy turned local cop Johnnie (Shane Jacobson) who, in turn provides some much need fatherly advice for her son, Albie. Mothers and daughters, the relationship between two sisters and the search for love all play a part in this heart-warming, stunningly filmed motion picture, set in the picturesque towns, hills and valleys of the Victorian countryside.
