You’re going to love the Dungog experience. This year we’re bigger and better than ever, so make sure to book early, because we want you there. Honestly we do. For those returning to Dungog, get ready for more films, more fun and more fantastic events. And if you’re joining us for the first time, we welcome you with open arms. Set in the idyllic Hunter Valley, there are a variety of ways that you can immerse yourself in fun and frolics at the Fest:
The Gala Event will follow the screening program with a touch of pizzazz. The dress code is evening so come and party in style. The party will be fully catered and there will be enough complimentary beer and wine to keep the every afloat the whole night long. There will be fantastic live entertainment and the charity auction, of course, returns once more. Not to be missed.
The closing night after party is the perfect way to wind down and contemplate the jam-packed four days you’ve just experienced. The dress code is ‘Whatever You Fancy’ and you’ll be treated to a delicious Aussie style barbecue. There will be complimentary drinks on arrival. So tuck on in.

Opening Night Film & Gala Event (6:00pm on Thur 27 May)
The official kick off to the festival is the opening night screening program at the iconic James Theatre. This will include the world premiere of the Australian feature film "Lou" starring John Hurt, Emily Barclay and Lily Bell-Tindley. You will an instrumental part of the buzz of opening night where you’ll be introduced to all the key people involved with the festival.The Gala Event will follow the screening program with a touch of pizzazz. Dungog Main Street Parade (11:00am on Sat 29 May)
This is Dungog’s answer to Moomba or perhaps Rio Mardi Gras, but with a film and country twist. It’s a quirky event, where the whole town is inspired by the festival and filmmaking. People dress up and come together for a unique community event. It’s fun for everyone.Saturday Night Film & Special Presentation (6:30pm on Sat 29 May)
The oldest, continuously running theatre in Australia, the James, will of course host the popular Saturday night film. Book early to avoid disappointment as this year we’re adding a very Special Presentation. Our brand new Speed Auditioning program, via our expert panel of judges, will be explored and one lucky winner will be announced. This is the most popular night in Dungog. With good reason. Our famous Saturday night party has often been described as rivaling those at the Cannes Film Festival. Get ready to boogie the night away with live entertainment from the amazing and fabulous Lisa Hunt. People are still talking about her show at the 2008 Miners’ Underground Party.The dress code is ‘Glad Rags & Dancing Shoes’. This is a fully catered event, with complimentary cocktails on arrival. This will be your last chance to watch a superb Aussie feature film at the beloved James Theatre at the 2010 Dungog Film Festival.
