Dungog Film Festival

2010 is the first year that Dungog has launched a television sidebar. We are thrilled to include Matt Okine and Lap Phan’s pilot episode for Not Available. Both writers have a background in stand-up comedy, with Matt winning Brisbane’s New Comic of the Year competition in 2005 and Lap taking out the Bangalow Big Joke Fest Competition in 2007. Not Available looks at the fall from grace of TV ‘it’ boy, Alex Wynters who must now work in the haven of unemployed actors - the call centre. ... More

DFF is delighted to announce that the NSW Premiere of Frazer Bailey’s Glenn Owen Dodds is screening at this year’s fest. Starring one of Australia’s most sought after actors, David Wenham and rising Aussie talent Abe Forsythe, this comedy sees an ordinary man discovering the meaning of life when he happens upon the chance of a five minute sit down with God. ... More

We are over the moon that award-winning director Nadia Tass will be hosting one of our ADG Master Classes this May. Nadia is one of Australia’s most respected and unique filmmakers with a back catalogue that includes The Big Steal (1989) and Amy (1998). As part of our NFSA Aussie Classics program Nadia will be presenting Malcolm (1986), giving a whole new audience the opportunity to see her multi AFI winning film on the big screen. ... More

Documentary feature, Miracle in the Storm will have its World Premiere this May at Dungog. The film portrays the story of Germany paraglider, Ewa Wisnierska, who survived an encounter with a freak storm in 2007. It combines the talents of co-directors Leo Faber and Guy Norris and DOP Toby Oliver (Beneath Hill 60).  ... More

We are excited to announce another inclusion to our In the Raw script readings, Kick Up Dust. Set in the tough world of bare fist boxing, the script sees Aboriginal cowboy, Elijah being reunited with his sister, Katie after a long absence. Marcus wrote this screenplay as a celebration of his own Aboriginality. This is a great opportunity for DFF to showcase Indigenous film talent.  ... More

We will be revealing the full program in the coming weeks, but today we are thrilled to announce the World Première of Dean Francis’s debut feature, Road Train. This white-knuckled ride stars Sophie Lowe, who recently blew us away in Beautiful Kate, and Xavier Samuel, soon to be seen in the third Twilight instalment. This year’s selection for In The Raw includes Miranda by award winning writer Stephen Sewell (The Boys). Stephen’s script is a psychological thriller, which explores the darker side of human nature.
