About Us

Australia's newest cultural event, the Dungog Film Festival was founded in 2007 to celebrate Australian cinema in a non-competitive environment, to strengthen the bonds within the film community, to create a context for contemporary Australian films by screening heritage films, and to enhance awareness, accessibility and appreciation of Australian film among a broad and diverse film going audience.

The Dungog Film Festival will present a unique program that will include new Australian films from both established and emerging directors; retrospectives; heritage films; in-depth seminars and master classes.

The Dungog Film Festival is also making a commitment to the James Theatre through its James Theatre Fund to assist in the restoration and maintenance of this Australian icon.
